4 Months!

Today Noah is 4 months old! That is in.san.ity. I feel like I am repeating myself but it is weird in two completely opposite ways. On the one hand, I can't believe it is going by so fast and he is growing and changing so much. On the other hand, I can barely remember life without him. I love him more everyday and just when I thought I couldn't possibly love him more, I hear him laugh in his sleep on the monitor and like the Grinch, my heart grows three sizes in an instant.

Best thing I have ever done.

Here are some outtakes from Noah's photoshoot. He is getting squirmy!

3 Months Old!

Wow, today Noah is 3 months old! I can't believe 3 months have gone by already. At the same time, it is crazy that it is ONLY 3 months when we take stock of all the things he has learned to do and how much he has grown. We put on his "coming home outfit" today and it was too small! When we first put it on him it was WAY too big.

Just in the last few weeks Noah is "talking" up a storm, laughing at things his silly Daddy does and recognizing faces and things. He also is actively reaching out to grab toys, mostly the rings that hand down from his activity mat. He has gotten so strong that he can bed the bar of the mat by pulling on the rings to get them down to stuff them in his mouth!

Speaking of his mouth, it seems that nothing is safe from his mouth and the drool that comes with it. He blows bubbles like a champ, you would think he had soap in his mouth but no it's just spit. It is too early for teething but he seems to LOVE sucking and chewing on everything in sight. He loves his Sophie, the ubiquitous squeaky giraffe from France that all babies love. But even with lots of toys, he prefers to suck on fingers (his own and his Dad's), Mommy's face and a really gross burp cloth. Go figure.

He is becoming very mobile, mostly in the backwards direction. he can shove off with his legs and launch from one side of his mat to the other. We have also found him scooted all the way to the top of his crib in the morning. Sometimes on his mat he will scoot in a circle, like a break dancer. We are still waiting for him to roll over but it seems very close. He can get to his side from both his tummy and his back but he hasn't made it over all the way yet.

With the weather getting really nice, Noah has made it outside more and more. He likes the breeze and loves to look around at his surroundings.  He has gone on lots of adventures with his Daddy now that his Mommy is back at work. He has been really good with taking the bottle but we will see what happens when we bring him to daycare at the end of the month. I am sure he will make a lot of new friends but it is going to be really tough at first. I hope he likes it and cries less than I am sure I will.

2 months old!

Well someone has been lazy... and it wasn't Noah! Sorry for my blog negligence recently, I have my hands full with a 2 month old now! Look how much he has changed...

Noah is 2 months old today. I can hardly believe it! He smiling and laughing and "talking" up a storm. He loves to look at himself in his activity mat mirror and have heated debates with the Mirror Noah. He also is starting to imitate smiles and laughs when talking with his Daddy and me.

Another new thing is that Koa seems to have taken to him and decided that she is his kitty mom. Whenever Noah cries, she runs over to him and meows. If I am not right there, say Noah is on his mat and I am in the kitchen, Koa will run in the kitchen, jump on the counter and meow at me- "HEY! He is crying!!" She loves to sit right next to him when he is eating and snuggle gently against his side. Hemmingway however isn't quite there yet but he has been more tolerant of Noah's presence in the house. Baby steps...

Noah also had his first Super Bowl. It was an unfortunate game but at least he was cute!

He is so big now! Today in the Shaws, Noah was strapped to his Daddy's chest in his Sleepy Wrap and a guy who was looking at pickles asked how old he was. When Jake replied 2 months, the guy exclaimed "He is gonna be BIG!". ummmm thanks? I am not sure how to respond to that really but right now he is just the right size. The perfect size for cuddles :)

Next time: Noah's 2 month check up and first immunizations!
Will Mommy cry? Probably...

6 weeks old!

Yesterday marked 6 weeks since Noah was born. I can hardly believe it! 6 weeks of anything else seems so long but 6 weeks of being a mom and spending time with such an adorable bundle of cuteness has really flown by.

Noah really has a personality now. He smiles and laughs all the time now. He loves changing time and he just lays on his mat and giggles and smiles at us. He giggles more if he is naked. He is sleeping great, usually up only once in the middle of the night and then once early in the morning around 5AM. If he goes to bed earlier then he might be up twice but usually still sleeps for about 3 hours in between waking up. He also has moved into his crib from the play pen in our bedroom and has been sleeping like a trooper in his cute nursery.

Here are some pics from my phone from recently to show how much Noah is changing everyday. Our little boy is growing up so fast!

1 Month Old!

Today Noah is 1 month old!! That is so crazy to me. It is strange, it seems like just yesterday he was put on my chest and looked at me for the first time, blinking because of the bright hospital lights. At the same time, it feels like he has been here all the time and I can't really remember what it was like without him.

New stuff:
Noah has been dealing with his first cold this week. Booooo! He is so sad about it too. He is so stuffed up and snifflly that he wheezes when he breathes and coughs because of the drip. He especially hates when I try to use that bulb from the hospital to suck out his snot... that is way not fun for him. Luckily, he hasn't had a fever, just the snot so he hasn't had to go see the Dr. yet...

Tomorrow he WILL in fact go see the Dr. because it is his 1 month check up. I will be sure to post how chunky he has gotten. At his 2 week appointment he was already 10lbs. 6 oz so he must be at least 11 if not 12 lbs by now! Oh my chunky baby...

This week Noah also started playing on his activity mat. He likes it a lot which is really great because I can lay him on it and make a sandwich now and then. He especially likes looking at himself in the mirror attached. I guess he knows how adorable he is!

Here are some recent cell phone pics of HRC (His Royal Cuteness) to celebrate his 1 month "birthday".

Noah's Arrival and First Week

So I have been a bit MIA, but it was for a good reason! Noah decided to grace us with his presence on Sunday December 18 at 1:45PM, 5 days past his due date, weighing in at 9 lbs and 21 inches long.We have spent over a week with him now and fall more in love with him every day. He is laid back and very docile, not minding being passed around like a hot potato. He makes hilarious faces and a lot of different noises, I especially love his smile. He is a wiggly ball of cuteness and I love him more than anything.

Noah's Birth
On Sunday, I began having timeable contractions around lunch time and we decided to head to the hospital around 10PM. Things weren't progressing quickly but I was in quite a bit of pain and had a fever so they admitted me anyway and got right to the epidural. The epidural didn't work at first but after an adjustment I felt MUCH better and got a little bit of sleep during the night. By morning, things were moving. Unfortunately, the epidural was starting to fade and the new anesthesiologist was less than cooperative. By 9AM was feeling contractions as if I had no epidural at all. While the anesthesiologist struggled to figure out how to fix it, while not listening to me at all, I progressed to fully dilated by 11AM and started pushing.

Pushing helped the pain a little bit but it was pretty terrible. Having the epidural was the only thing I was counting on for labor and I never thought of the possibility of not having it. 3 hours later, Noah seemed a little bit stuck so the Dr. suggested using the vacuum to help him along. 3 contractions and pulls with the vacuum later, Noah was born! Jake and my mom were there for the birth and he was perfect from the start. He had no troubles and got high APGAR scores of 8 and 9 out of 10. Jake kept a close eye on him while I was stitched and cleaned up.

It seemed like forever but about 10 minutes after he was born they put him on my chest. It was an amazing moment. He immediately stopped crying and watched me very closely. Having my husband next to me and my son my chest was the best moment I have experienced in my life.

Noah Comes Home
We stayed in the hospital for 2 days and Noah did great. We got to bring him home on December 20, just in time for the first night of Hanukkah! Already celebrating the holidays at 2 days old. The kitties are suspicious of him but they get more used to him everyday.

Christmas and Meeting Family
We traveled quite a bit for Christmas and Noah met SO many family members. He spent time with: 4 grandparents, 3 great grandparents, 2 uncles, 1 aunt, 6 great uncles, 5 great aunts and 11 second cousins! He did great with the car travel and with meeting all the new people. He is very comfy being held by anyone and rarely cries.
