Avocado Laughs

5 months!

Noah turned 5 months on Friday! Every month when the 18th rolls around I think about how much my life has changed and how happy I am. It is all going by so fast! He is like a real little person these days. He is rolling back and forth all over the house, although he prefers to roll from back to tummy and then gets angry to roll from tummy to back. He is sitting up on his own for a little bit but then folds forward so that he is able to suck on his feet. He is trying very very hard to be able to sit up from a laying position on his own and he is trying his damnedest to CRAWL. God help us when that happens! He is going to be very quick, I can tell already!

Noah is also getting more into eating "real" food. Avocado is obviously preferred over sweet potato. I think we will try banana next and see how he likes it. He is also teething like CRAZY. He put anything and everything in his mouth, and especially loves to chew on cloth toys/blankets/socks. The thing that seems to help the most is a frozen wash cloth. Poor little guy is obviously uncomfortable and unfortunately I have no idea when the first tooth will pop. I have been told that babies can "teethe" for MONTHS before a single pearly white is visible.

Noah hasn't been sleeping very well the past few weeks (teething may be the cause of this too) so Mommy and Daddy are very tired (especially Mommy!). I hope he gets into a better pattern at night soon but for now I treasure quiet moments rocking in his room, listening to the sounds of the waves on the sleep sheep. Sometimes when he has fallen back asleep, I stay and rock for a few extra minutes just to watch him sleep. He is actually sleeping right now, napping in Jake's arms. He has been a sleepy little boy on this lazy Sunday afternoon!

Next month when I make this post, he will be half way to 1! Complete insanity.

and for an extra treat- avocado!

My 1st Mother's Day

After dealing with infertility during Mother's Day 2010, being anxious about getting out of the first trimester during Mothers Day 2011, this year Mother's Day felt like the cumulation of a lot of waiting and strife. I finally made it! I couldn't really believe it to be honest.

Noah really made it a special day. First he made me breakfast (while I got to sleep). The menu was home made banana bread from scratch and pancakes. Then he was really tired from all the cooking so he took a nap. When he woke up he gave me a photo album of my journey to my first Mother's Day- from my bump right up until last week! He also gave me a pretty necklace.

Then we were off to the aquarium! The aquarium is one of my favorite places so I was excited to bring Noah there. It was pretty crowded, I guess because it is a good place for families to go and Mother's Day is a popular day for family outings. Noah LOVED the aquarium. He looked at everything very intently and in awe the whole time. He especially seemed to like the penguins and the giant tank.

Checking out the Penguins

After the aquarium we took a walk along the harbor and watched the boats. Noah fell asleep in his stroller so Jake and I had an amazing late lunch/early dinner at The Daily Catch. Yum seafood/Italian and yay to a nice meal out. When we got home, I read Noah his new book about penguins to end the day. It was really a lovely time together as our little family.

2nd Food= Avocado!

Our second foray into baby food making and for Noah, eating, was avocado! Seems like a weird thing to give a baby to me but is actually quite a good choice. It is mushy and takes minimal prep time. It's a fruit and has lots of good nutrients. I am not the biggest fan but I would really like to expose Noah to all sorts of foods so he will be a good eater (I hope!).

While sweet potato received a lukewarm reception, Noah LOVED avocado! I feel like he is actually eating it now while the sweet potato mostly ended up on his clothes via his bib and hands. We will keep trying with the sweet potato but clearly avocado is a keeper!

What is this??

Wow, this is better than the last thing they gave me...

Hey! That was awesome!

Give me more now!!! (crazy avocado face)

Visiting with Nanny and Poppy!

Noah's Nanny and Poppy came to visit this weekend and watched him while Mommy and Daddy got to go out to see The Avengers. He mostly had a meltdown the whole time but that's ok, cause they love him anyway!

Rock & Roll, & Roll & Roll!

Noah is MOBILE! He is now a master of the back to tummy roll! Usually babies roll from tummy to back first but Noah is a rebel I guess. Now, every time we put him down he rolls over. He can't be stopped!

He is also REALLY REALLY close to rolling from tummy to back as well. Pretty soon he is going to be rolling from room to room! Guess we had better start baby proofing ASAP!
